The bathroom is one of the most used rooms in a home. It is meant to be an oasis where you can relax and unwind before bed or rejuvenate in the morning. If you are considering remodeling your bathroom or planning on adding an additional bathroom, your design options are better than ever. With new trends in shower glass, fixtures, and flooring your bathroom can have a style as unique as you. One of the key elements in a bathroom is, of course, the shower or bath. We recommend following the trend of ditching the big tub and go with a larger walk-in shower. The key to doing it right is what kind of shower glass you use to accent the bathroom. You have many options and ways you can implement quality shower glass, not just as doors; let us make a few suggestions we think will make you love your new space.
SHOWER DOORS
Naturally, if you install a shower you will need a shower door, or will you? The old traditional shower glass door accent is still acceptable and can be full or partially enclosed, but make sure you go frameless. It looks much classier and is easier to maintain. However, if you have space you can really make your bathroom stand out with a doorless shower using glass bricks as a barrier to contain the shower. This design is hot right now and gives your bathroom a modern, luxurious feel. Whatever you choose just make sure you are using quality shower glass to get the best results. Good glass isn’t cheap and cheap glass isn’t good, so always make sure you consider that when doing your research.
SHOWER WALLS
As we mentioned above, you can do away with doors altogether as the hot trend is to create the entire shower enclosure using shower glass. Glass bricks are combined to create a really cool, L-shaped shower with a zero degree entry that leads to the actual shower area, the wall curves around to create a barrier to contain the shower water. Be sure whoever builds this creates a grade in the floor to facilitate proper drainage otherwise you will have a flooding problem and that can get expensive.
BUILT-IN SHELVING USING SHOWER GLASS
In some neat trends as of late, designers are including built-in storage/shelving in showers using tile and a sliding frameless shower glass enclosure. This becomes a nifty place to hide away your shampoo, razor, and soap. It looks classy and keeps everything looking flush with its smooth lines, all while eliminating clutter in the shower. Frosted shower glass also hides whatever is behind it, giving the shelving a secondary function as an artistic accent. The days of cluttered bath organizers and bottles of product all over the place are over. Welcome to the new style of chic yet practical.
